进入8月，大学校园也迎来了春季入学(澳大利亚当地季节)的新同学们。初到新的地方，我们会发现每个地方都有自己独特的特色，澳大利亚肯定也少不了极具特色的澳式英语(俚语)，当然在伍伦贡大学（UOW），也有独特的“方言”。

作为UOW的新生，除了要慢慢熟悉新的学习环境，也要逐渐地谙熟这些”方言”，这样才能成为真正的UOWer，更具归属感；否则就会出现”鸡同鸭讲”的尴尬。

我们罗列了一些主要的澳式俚语和UOW”方言”，一起来熟悉一下:

'Chip roll' - UOW UniBar delicacy of a bread roll, hot chips and gravy

UOW UniBar的一款地道美食 - 面包卷，内含有薯条和肉汁

例句: I am getting a chip roll for lunch.

'Illa' - Hotel Illawarra

Illa就是伍伦贡所在的Illawara地区的缩写。这里特指就是Illawara酒店

例句: Lucy invited Rachel to join her at Illa for drinks and dinner.

Illa是一栋很有历史感的建筑

'The Gong' - Wollongong

伍伦贡的简称

例句: The Gong is best known for its picturesque beaches and peaceful lifestyle.

'Topdeck' - lighthouse carpark in North Wollongong

位于北伍伦贡的灯塔停车场，欣赏海景的好地方

例句: I watched the breathtaking moonrise from my car at Topdeck.

另外澳式英语也是非常有特色，这些常用同学应该要懂得。

'Arvo' - afternoon

原来下午可以这么说

例句: I will be heading to the grocery shops this arvo.

'Barbie' - barbecue

烧烤这么说有点萌

例句: Summer is the best time for a barbie in your backyard.

'Bottle-O' - liquor shop

贩卖酒的杂货店

例句: Can you grab some drinks from the bottle-O on your way back from uni.

'Brekky' - breakfast

例句: I had avo toast and eggs for brekky this morning.

'Lappy' - laptop

例句: I could not present my slides in class because I forgot to bring my lappy.

'Mozzies' - mosquitoes

蚊子这样读起来就简单多了

例句: Watch out. The mozzies will bite you at this time of night.

'Servo' - service station

服务站

例句: Go to the servo in town for the cheapest fuel around here.

'She’ll be right' - it will be fine

例句: Jack complained about having three assignments due while pouring himself another cup of coffee, “she’ll be right mate,” Shane said.

'Suss it out' - to investigate something

例句: Let's go to the UniBar and try to suss out this assignment over some chips and beer!

‘Yeah nah' - no; when you disagree with someone on something.

肯定 否定其实也是否定

例句: “Try this sausage sizzle. It’s better than Bunnings,” Lachlan said, “Yeahnah, that’s not possible,” I replied.
