Grug had a new cookbook.
瓜哥有一本新菜谱。
He decided to try:tea-tree soup,
他决定试一试：做个茶树汤，
gum-leaf rolls and carrot cake.
胶叶卷、胡萝卜蛋糕。
He picked some tea-tree leaves
他捡了一些茶树树叶，
and gum leaves from the tree...
还在树上折了一些胶叶...
The recipe for soup said:
菜谱上说：
Chop up the tea-tree leaves...
如果做汤，要把茶树树叶切碎...
...put them in a pot and cover them with cream.
...再把它们放到锅里，然后覆盖上奶油。
Grug cooked the mixture over his fire to make tea-tree soup.
做完这些，瓜哥把锅吊在火上煮茶树汤。
Next Grug cut up the carrots and spinach.
接下来瓜哥把胡萝卜和菠菜切碎。
He mixed them with eggs and flour.
他把鸡蛋和面粉也加进来，搅拌在一起。
Then he wrapped the mixture in gum leaves
然后他用胶叶把混合好的材料卷起来
to make gum-leaf rolls.
做成了胶叶卷。
But the mixture oozed out, so Grug
但是食材都从胶叶两边挤出来了，
ate the gum leaves instead.Very tasty!
于是瓜哥就把胶叶卷给吃了。真好吃！
Now it was time to make the carrot cake.
现在该做胡萝卜蛋糕啦。
He beat flour, eggs and milk together in a bowl.
他在碗里放了面粉，鸡蛋还有牛奶，用搅拌器搅拌好。
He licked the mixture. Delicious!
他舔了一口。真美味！
Grug baked the rest of the mixture,
瓜哥把剩下的部分拿去烤，
but it came out burnt and black.
但是烤出来的却是黑乎乎的。
He put carrots on the top to make a carrot cake.
瓜哥把胡萝卜放在蛋糕上，完成了胡萝卜蛋糕的最后一步。
He dipped the carrots into his tea-tree soup and ate them.
他拿胡萝卜在茶树汤里蘸了蘸吃了下去。
Very, very tasty!
真是太，太，太好吃了。
Then he carved a face in the cake
接着他在烤糊的蛋糕上刻了一张脸，
and put it on his mantelpiece.
然后挂在壁炉上。
Grug went to bed
忙完了，瓜哥躺到了床上
and drank a cup of his favourite lemongrass tea.
喝了一杯他最爱的柠檬草茶。
