作为二十四节气中倒数第2个节气，小寒标志着严冬的来临。

如今窗外的树枝变得光秃秃的，只余冷风在诉说天地间的萧瑟。走在路上，手都冻得通红，空气中隐约可见呼出的白气。

此时节要格外注意防寒保暖，尤其是头部、腹部、背部和足部，还应预防呼吸道疾病。

俗话说：小寒大寒，冻成冰团。一年中最为寒冷的时节已经到了。

你知道，下列哪种“小寒”的表达方式是正确的么？

Minor Cold、Lesser Cold、slight Cold

小寒是中国传统二十四节气（the 24 traditional Chinese solar terms）中的第二十三个节气，英语表达应为Minor Cold。

目前，大家普遍认同的是Minor Cold，minor这里是较小的、次要的意思，正好与“大寒”的Major Cold对应。

当然，有人也会把“小寒”译作Lesser Cold、Slight Cold，与大寒相比“更小、更轻”。而大寒也可以翻译成great Cold，这里的great不是极好的意思，而是“主要、最大”的寒冷。

During Minor Cold, most areas in China have entered the bitter cold stage of winter. The ground and rivers are frozen. The cold air from the north moves southward continuously.

Although "Minor Cold" means less cold than the following solar term, "Major Cold", there is an old saying in China that goes, "The days of the Sanjiu period are the coldest days."

尽管“小寒”是意思是和下个节气“大寒”相比不那么冷，但是中国有一句老话说“数九寒天，冷在三九”。

“三九”"Sanjiu period" refers to the third nine-day period (the 19th-27th days) after the day of the Winter Solstice, which is in Minor Cold. Actually Minor Cold is normally the coldest period of winter. It is important to keep warm during this period.“三九”指冬至过后的第三个九天（即冬至后的第十九天至第二十七天），而这段时间正处于小寒内。事实上，小寒往往是冬季中最冷的时段，注意保暖是非常重要的。
