在初中英语中，take, spend, cost, pay 等词都有“花费”的意思，但你会“花费”吗？

现将它们之间的主要区别介绍如下：

1． take 表示的“花费”主要是指做某件事要“占用掉”多少时间。如：

1） The flight will take two hours.

这次飞行大约需要两小时左右。

2） How long does it take to get there by train?

坐火车到那里要多久？

3） It took me all the afternoon to finish my homework.

我花了整个下午才把作业做完。

4） To write well takes years of practice.

要写好，需要花多年的功夫。

2. cost 表示的“花费”主要是某物价值多少钱，或做某事需要付出多少（时间、精力上的）代价。其主语必须是物或事。如：

1) This new suit cost her about two hundred yuan.

这套衣服花了她大约200元钱。

2) How much will the operation cost?

动手术需要花多少钱？

3) The trip to Xingjiang cost us quite a long time.

这次我们到新疆去旅行花了不少时间。

4) This cost them a lot of work.

这费了他们不少功夫。

3. 与take, cost 所不同的是，spend 的花费者必须是人，其“花费”的内容可以是金钱也可以是时间或精力等。其后常出现介词on 或 for sth 或(in) doing sth, 有时也可接不定式。如：

1） She spent thirty yuan on/for the dictionary.

她买这本字典花了30元钱。

2） Every morning she spends half an hour (in) reading English.

她每天早上花半小时读英语。

3） We had to spend all our wages for food and clothes at that time.

那时我们全部的工资都花在了吃穿上。

4） The government spent a lot of money to help make this land better.

政府花了大量资金帮助改良这片土地。

4. pay 所表示的“花费”则是直接购物付钱或者为…而花钱，其后可直接带宾语（人或物或钱）也可带介词，表示为…而花钱。如：

1）I’ll pay you soon.

我很快就会付你钱。

2) She paid the taxi and hurried to the hospital.

她付了出租车费，急忙奔向医院。

3) How much do you pay for your schooling?

你上学要付多少学费？

顺便说一下，waste 虽然也有花费之意，但指的是“不必要的花费”。即“浪费” ，“被浪费” 。可以是钱，也可以是时间。如：

1） He wasted too much money on smoking.

他在吸烟上浪费了不少钱。

2） Don’t waste time playing.

不要把时间浪费在玩耍上。
