她学的是建筑学和室内设计，喜欢摄影和电影，后来成为一个跨界艺术家。玩跨界，我只服她！

She studied architecture and interior design, but had a passion for photography and film. She became an interdisciplinary artist later. She is the only person whom I admire in the interdisciplinary field!

2018. 02.05，旅德艺术家王小慧与友人一行参访玛祖铭立，并为其作品签名。自2013年，玛祖铭立与王小慧女士正式合作，今年已是第5个年头。

On Feb., 05, 2018, Xiao Hui WANGa Chineseartist in German, visited MATSU with her friends and signed for her works. 2018is the fifth year since our collaboration with Xiao Hui WANG.

王小慧女士多年来活跃于欧洲和中国艺术界，在全球多家知名美术馆等举办过艺术展，作品屡获国际奖项并为许多机构及私人收藏。她是同济大学建筑学文革后第一届毕业生，是中国第一位室内设计研究生。但她不仅做建筑，又搞摄影、拍电影、写剧本，出书；做雕塑、做装置、做影像、做设计、做行为艺术、做灯光艺术和新媒体艺术；而且她还策划与实施大型跨国文化活动及公益艺术项目……所以她被称作为中国最著名的跨界艺术家。

Xiao Hui WANG has been engaged in art in Europe and China since many years. In her early artistic career she focused on photography mainly. Ten years ago she began to experiment with "crossover" art in photography, film, video, sculpture, installation, design, light, media art and writing. She became well known internationally for her outstanding work in which she combines eastern and western ways of artistic interpretation and expression. She had art exhibitions in many art museums around the world. She won many awards and her work is highly recognized and collected by private and public organizations. Today she is praised to be the most successful interdisciplinary artist in China.

About Xiao Hui WANG

1986年，于上海同济大学建筑学硕士毕业后，王小慧开启了赴德留学之旅，与她一同前往的还有一位才华横溢的男同学，也是她一生的挚爱—俞霖。

Xiao Hui WANG went to German for furtherstudy after she graduated from Architecture Master in Shanghai TongjiUniversity in 1986, and along with her was a very gifted boy and her only love,Yu Lin.

虽然王小慧就读于建筑系，但是她却对摄影有着疯狂的迷恋。

She was major in department of architecture but she was very muchattracted to photography.

留学之后，她这种对于摄影的热爱在经济的压力、理想与现实的冲突面前受到了阻碍，好在有先生俞霖陪在身旁，一直支持她。

When studying abroad, Xiao Hui WANG wasdifficult to make a choice because she was facing pretty much economic pressurebut she really enjoyed photography and it’s her dream. Luckily, she always hasher husband, Yu Lin to be supportive.

“你那么喜欢艺术，就做职业艺术家好了，如果挣不到钱，我来养你。”这是王小慧面临抉择的时候，俞霖对她说的话。

“If you really like art, just be a professional artist! I’llgive you all my support if you don’t have money.” That’s what Yu Lin promised herwhen she had to make a choice.

于是，她毅然决然地辞去了大学教授的职位，一心一意地走上心爱的艺术创作之路，即使这份工作无法给她带来稳定的收入。

So she determinedly quit the job as auniversity professor and got on her way to art creation, which might barelyensure her stable income.

然而命运弄人，1991年的一场车祸夺走了俞霖年轻的生命，也让王小慧受到了重创，面目全非，三根肋骨折断，腰椎受伤，面临终身瘫痪的危险。

However, humans are fortune’s fool, an caraccident in 1991 killed the young Yu Lin and Xiao Hui WANG got injured severely,her face beyond recognition, fracture of three ribs, spine injured and risks oflife-long paralysis.

倒卧病床的她，苏醒后第一件事就是拿起相机，拍下了自己破碎的脸，记录这次刻骨铭心的重创。

The first thing she did after she gotconscious was taking a picture of her broken face with her camera, to memorizethat unforgettable hurt.

沙砾成为珍珠，才会把自己打开。意外与疼痛，已成为了王小慧如今生命的养分和一部分。生与死之间，全赖艺术搭救。

If you are in full bloom, butterflies will come. What didn’tkill her just makes her even stronger. Art was the life-saving boat for Xiao Hui WANG when was facing miserable accident.

也许很多人会质疑为什么一个艺术家需要把自己苦痛不断在世人面前展现。但是只有这样才能让大家真正进入她的人生。

Man people may question why an artist needs to present their sorrows and pains in front of the public. But only by so doing can you get to know life.

就好比，当沙砾意外地滚入了蚌壳的心里，你无法叫喊，你只能承受。直到，那沙砾成为了莹亮的珍珠，你才会把自己打开。

This is like gravels accidentally falling into the heart of one clamshell. Not matter how hard you scream, you can only bear with it until the gravels become bright pearls before you open the clamshell.

王小慧不是要诉说自己的疼痛，不是要让别人同情或者落泪，她只是想说：那些意外与疼痛，已经成为了如今生命的养分和一部分。生与死之间，全赖艺术搭救。

Xiao Hui WANG does not intend to tell her pains or get the sympathy or tears of others. She only wants to say that all accidents and pains have become nutrients of life and part of life. Art is totally depended on between her life and death.
