心中南波万放松的假期活动是一边电脑里播放着不拘哪一季的CSI: LV或是CM，一边写填字游戏或是拼Loz。心满意足。

虽然海报木有片名，但有可爱担当Greg（最右）和超有趣的法医Dr. Robbins（左二）。

然鹅作为一名合格的打工人，看剧时也念念不忘考研英语！

前两天刷剧时听到了sympathetic这个词，剧中的情景是这样婶儿的：

这里是法官说给CSI的话，解释了为什么不能给他签搜查令。Judge Witherspoon: Gil. I'm sympathetic to your request, but if I grant a warrant based upon this print, and the print is later thrown out of court, then everything you find as a result of it would be excluded, and your pattern rapist could be back on the street. Give me something else -- I'll be happy to grant you a warrant.

这个词在剧中的含义不禁让我想到一道题……

考研英语中的题目是这样婶儿的：2014年考研英语（二）阅读第一篇的第22题

22. The author’s attitude toward Americans’ watching TV is __________.

[A] critical. [B] supportive.

[C] sympathetic. [D] ambiguous.

这道题印象深刻的原因是，考研英语中也会时不时出这种送分题。（其实我更倾向于认为这算是出题失误）

那我们就来盘一盘这个sympathetic。

这词本身并不难，sympathy的形容词，sympathy是“同情”的意思，那sympathetic表示“同情的”“出于同情的”，多简单，end of story。

不过稍微带入一下情景，便知此意不妥。

在剧中法官说：I'm sympathetic to your request, ...怎么着，法官还同情CSI的要求了？说不过去。

求助于CALD（剑桥高级学习字典），sympathy是有两个名词释义的：①(an expression of) understanding and care for someone else's suffering（对别人痛苦的理解）同情; ②support and agreement赞同。同理，sympathetic也有两个形容词释义：①describes someone who shows, especially by what they say, that they understand and care about someone's suffering；②agreeing with or supporting。

法官的意思其实是在说，我个人支持你们的要求，但是如果我给你们签发了搜查令，之后在法庭上也可能不会被采纳，bluh bluh bluh

所以这里的sympathetic自然取的是agreeing with或是supporting的意思，表示“支持、同意”。

那我们再回过来看上面那道题，完全不用看文章，就能做出答案。

从题干可知这是一道态度题，问的是作者对于美国人看电视的态度；态度题是阅读题型里较为简单的一种，因为会出现一些不选选项，道理来自于议论文本身的特点。这里暂且按下不表。

D选项这种模糊的态度不会在议论文中作为正确选项出现，而BC本质上是一个意思，所以……答案自此就明了了……

其实回过头想一想，同情一词，“同”为相同，“情”为感情、情绪。所谓“同情”不正是因为同理心而对他人的遭遇感同身受而产生的情绪吗？从英语的词根词缀角度来看，sympathy中sym- (syn-)表示together，pathos（PIE root）表示feeling, suffering（如pathogen），同样说的是有相同的情绪。

除此之外，2002年第一篇阅读的第一段中，出现了sympathy的短语搭配，同样表示“支持、赞同”的含义：in sympathy with

“同情”和“支持”并存的一道题是2010年英语（一）第四篇阅读的40题，这也是一道态度题哦，只不过不像上面那道那么好排除，毕竟2010年，你懂得！
