过去分词和现在分词作定语或状语如何区分？

请仔细认真地理解下面的关键词句。然后通过练习进行强化和巩固。

△现在分词：现在分词的一般式表示主动或进行。现在分词的完成式强调分词的动作在谓语动词动作之前发生（只能作状语)

△过去分词: 表示被动或完成，有时表示状态。

举例说明：

作定语：

1）Do you know the woman talking to Tom ?

= Do you know the woman who is talking to Tom ?

现在分词作定语表示主动和正在进行。

2） The soldier wounded in the war has become a doctor.

= The soldier who was wounded in the war has become a doctor.

过去分词作定语表示被动，表示动作已经完成或状态。

3）China is a developing country and America is a developed country.

现在分词developing表正在进行；过去分词developed表示已经完成或状态。

作状语：

1）The secretary worked late into the night , preparing a long speech for the president . （preparing...表示主动，且与谓语动词动作同时进行）

秘书工作到深夜，为主席准备一篇长篇演讲稿。

2） Given more time , I’ll do it well . （given过去分词表示被动）

如果给我多一点时间，我会做的更好。
