Early Spring in Laurel Palace

步辇出披香，

The royal cab leaves palace hall,

清歌临太液。

For poolside garden'mid sweet songs.

晓树流莺满，

The trees are loud with orioles'call;

春堤芳草积。

On vernal shore grass grows in throngs.

风光翻露文，

The breeze can write with morning dew;

雪华上空碧。

Neath blue sky flowers bloom like snow.

花蝶来未已，

Butterflies come now and anew;

山光暖将夕。

The hills are warmed by evening glow.
