The GaWC2020, rankings of global cities compiled by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network (GaWC), was released a few days ago. China has 19 cities on the list, among which Zhengzhou has moved up 37 places. For the first time, Zhengzhou is now a global second-tier city.

As an academic institution composed of European and American scholars, GaWC is regarded as one of the most important and authoritative organizations in urban system research in the world. Based at Loughborough University in the UK, the institution is dedicated to the study of the foreign relations of the world cities.

GaWC是一个由欧美学者组成的学术机构，被认为是世界城市体系研究领域最为重要和权威的组织之一。该机构创建于英国拉夫堡大学，致力于研究世界城市的对外关系。

GaWC, one of the world's most prominent city rating agencies, has been publishing the world city rankings every two or four years since 2000 and has done so eight times, most recently in 2018.

In contrast to traditional city rankings which are based on GDP, GaWC ranks world cities by "sophisticated producer-service institutions", mainly banking, insurance, law, consulting management, advertising and accounting. The focus is on the leading role and driving capacity of a city in global activities.

Zhengzhou, which advances from 153^rdin 2018 to 116^thin 2020, is upgraded to a global second-tier city for the first time.

Logistics industry helps Zhengzhou grow rapidly

"The implications of logistics, the increasing importance of the city itself, and its function as an important node city along the Belt and Road line all make for Zhengzhou's rapid growth," said Ben Derudder, Deputy Director of GaWC, when speaking of Zhengzhou's ability to develop faster, "Many logistics enterprises have transformed themselves into producer service enterprises, promoting the city to become a logistics city, and attracting more other producer services to gather here."

Taking the "Big Corn" (Millennium Square) as central landmark, the circular complex of CBD in Zhengdong New District faces the Financial Island in North Dragon Lake under intensive construction across the rippling Ruyi Lake. The area, known as "Lujiazui" in Henan Province, has attracted a wide range of financial institutions, including foreign banks, enriching Zhengzhou's financial industry, and helping Zhengzhou build an international regional financial center at a faster pace.

Zhengzhou ranks fourth by Digital Life Index in the country

数字生活服务指数排名全国第四

The China Economic Information Service, the China Information Industry Association and the China Academy of Urban Planning and Design jointly released the Report on Digital Governance of Chinese Cities (2020).The report analyzed the digital governance level of the top 100 cities by GDP in 2019 from the perspectives of their digital infrastructure, digital administrative services, digital public services and digital life services. Among them, Zhengzhou ranked seventh in terms of digital governance indicator and fourth in terms of its digital life service after Shanghai, Beijing, and Hangzhou.

日前，中国经济信息社、中国信息协会和中国城市规划设计研究院联合发布《中国城市数字治理报告（2020）》。报告从数字基础设施、数字行政服务、数字公共服务、数字生活服务四个维度对2019年度GDP排名前100位的城市数字治理水平进行了研究分析。其中，郑州数字治理指数排名全国第七，数字生活服务排名仅次于上海、北京、杭州，位列全国第四。

Zhengzhou, which ranks ^{15 th}by GDP in the country, is among the top ten in terms of digital governance, making it a dark horse emerging from the central and western regions. It is building industrial clusters for the digital economy to integrate innovative emerging industries and upgraded new producer services. On June^{16 th}, Zhengzhou and Alibaba signed an agreement on intensifying strategic cooperation to promote digitalization and announced plans to establish "the First Digitally Integrated City Economy in Central China".

GDP全国排名第15位的郑州，在数字治理方面跻身全国前十，可以说是中西部地区涌现出的一匹“黑马”。正不断打造数字经济的产业集群，来融合新兴产业的创新和新兴生产性服务业的提升。6月16日，郑州市与阿里巴巴签署深化战略合作协议，合力推动数字化，宣布联手打造“中部数字经济第一城”。

"Digitization" has become an important engine for the economic and social development of Zhengzhou. It is undoubtedly one of the main factors for Zhengzhou's success in becoming an international second-tier city.

如今的郑州，“数字化”已经成为经济社会发展的重要引擎。这无疑也是其成功迈进全球二线城市阵营的主要因素之一。
