白玉菩提根手串（收于2019年）菩提根不是树根，而是一种叫做贝叶棕的种子，属于菩提子的一种。贝叶棕属棕榈科，是一种常绿乔木，是热带地区绿化环境的优良树种。

中国现有的贝叶棕原产印度、斯里兰卡等亚洲热带国家，是随着佛教（小乘佛教）的传播而被引入的，己有700多年的历史，仅在云南西双版纳地区零星栽植于缅寺（佛寺）旁边和植物园内。The bodhi root is not a root, but a seed called Beiyezong tree, which belongs to a kind of bodhi seed.
