When you’re a professional athlete it is. A lot of athletes (teammates maybe) say a lot of homophobic shit. Sports fans aren’t renowned for being progressive either. Lots of bros who just wanna bro out with their bros and no women while watching sports, but no gay shit, bro.

In athletic and black circles? It's a much newer movement than it is as a whole, albeit one that seems to have made insanely rapid strides in the past few years. Pretty sure both of them come from reasonably well-off upbringings though, so they're probably less impacted by the cultural factors than others.

Odds are, there is at least one superstar in the NBA right now who is gay, or at least bisexual.
