圣经的由来英语（哪些你熟悉的英文俗语源于圣经）

在上期的推送中，给大家介绍了源于圣经的几个习语，如A leopard cannot change his spots. 喻指：江山易改，本性难移。 You are the apple of my eye. 喻指：你是我的挚爱，或你是我最珍贵的人。Moses (人名）摩西，喻指：领导者，领袖。a land flowing with milk and honey 喻指：富饶之地，鱼米之乡。

今天接着带领大家一起了解那些源自《圣经》中的英语习语：

1. bone of the bone and flesh of the flesh

骨中骨，肉中肉

语出：《圣经》旧约的Genesis《创世纪》,原文为：And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man. Then the man said, “This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh;this one should be called Woman, for out of Man this one was taken.”Therefore a man leaves his father and his mother and clings to his wife, and they become one flesh.（NRSV）

上帝用泥土造人，并他起名叫亚当。但那时的亚当是孤独的，上帝决心为他造一个配偶，便使他沉睡，在他沉睡之际取下他一根肋骨，又把肉合起来。上帝用这根肋骨造成了一个女人，取名叫夏娃。上帝把夏娃领到亚当跟前，亚当立刻意识到这个女人与自己生命的联系，他心中充满了快慰和满意，脱口便说："这是我骨中的骨，肉中的肉啊！可以称她为女人，因为他是从男人身上取出来的。"男人和女人原本是一体，因此男人和女人长大以后都要离开父母，与对方结合，二人成为一体。

此言喻指：血浓于水，血肉相连或思想上的团结一致。

E.g: The trade union was bone of the bone and flesh of the flesh of the workers. 该工会与工人是血肉相连的。

2. the garden of Eden 伊甸园

语出：《圣经》旧约的Genesis《创世纪》,原文为： And the Lord God planted a garden in Eden, in the east; and there he put the man whom he had formed. Out of the ground the Lord God made to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food, the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

上帝在东方的伊甸，为亚当和夏娃造了一个乐园。那里地上撒满金子、珍珠、红玛瑙，各种树木从地里长出来，开满各种奇花异卉，非常好看；树上的果子还可以作为食物。

此言喻指：乐园;人间天堂

E.g: My friend Louis says Crete is the Garden of Eden. 我的朋友路易斯说克里特岛简直就是人间天堂。

3. forbidden fruit 禁果

源于《圣经》旧约的Genesis《创世纪》，禁果是伊甸园“知善恶树”(the tree of the knowledge of good and evil)上结的果实。上帝对亚当和夏娃说园中树上的果子都可以吃，唯“知善恶树”上的果实“不可吃、也不可摸”，否则他们便会死。最后夏娃受魔鬼（蛇）的引诱，不顾上帝的吩咐进食了禁果，又把果子给了亚当，他也吃了。上帝便把他们赶出伊甸园。偷食禁果被认为是人类的原罪及一切其它罪恶的开端。

此言喻指：破坏规矩或做了不应做之事而得到的满足

E.g: There is an old saying that forbidden fruit tastes the sweetest.

有句谚语说，禁忌之果尝起来最甜。
