After tossing around pine cone for a while, you intended to join a bunch of kids who were having a ball, but nobody seemed quite interested in counting you as one of them. Like a square peg in a round hole, you apparently felt bored. You peddled to the lakeside looking for that white gander which used to wander around there but the bird was not in sight.

扔了一会儿松球，你就想跟一群玩儿得正起劲儿的孩子一起玩儿，结果没人理你。挤不进人家的圈子，你感到有些无聊，于是骑着车去湖边，去找大白鹅。大白鹅一般都在那儿转悠，可是今天也没看到它。

Having given your hands a quick wash, you darted towards the cake mummy had just bought you. That was truly your heart's desire. You put up your thumbs while eating the cake with relish. The way you looked and carried yourself at the table was for me a vivid reminder that you are growing up fast.
