第61课 Trouble with the Hubble

1、The Hubble telescope was launched into space by NASA on April 20,1990 at a

cost of over a billion dollars.

at a cost of 固定表达，意思是耗资多少，花费多少

launch 这里的意思是发射

launch a rocket/ an artificial satellite 发射一枚火箭/一颗人造卫星

launch an attack 发起进攻

launch a new enterprise 创办一个新的企业

launch a movement 发起一个运动

2、Right from the start there was trouble with the Hubble.

from the start 从一开始，加 right 表示强调

例句：He's on the phone right now.

The ball hit the man right in the head.

3、NASA is now going to put the telescope right......

put......right 纠正，改正

例句：To put things right, they started out with an investigation.

4、A robot-arm from the 'Endeavour' will grab the telescope and hold it while the

astronauts make the necessary repairs.

while 连词，表示在什么期间，表示一段时间

5、The Hubble will tell us a great deal about the age and size of the universe.

a great deal 名词性词组，许多

例句：He knows a great deal about plants.

This trip has costed him a great deal of money.

6、By the time you read this, the Hubble's eagle eye will have sent us thousands

and thousands of wonderful pictures.

by the time you read this 时间状语从句，注意用 by 引导的时间状语从句，主句中一般要用将来完成时。

将来完成时，表示在将来某一时间以前已经完成或一直持续的动作。

构成：will/shall have 动词过去分词

thousands and thousands of 固定词组，成千上万的

7、将来进行时，表示要在将来某一时间开始，并继续下去的动作。

构成：will/shall be doing

例句：NASA is now going to put the telescope right, so it will soon be sending up

four astronauts to repair it.
