英语优点怎么介绍（优势在英语中到底有哪些表达方式）

今天看经济学人讲中国经济看到一句话：

Nevertheless, the promise and the problems of China’s financial sector are rippling beyond its borders.

然而，中国金融业的希望（优势）和问题，其影响都超越了中国国界。

这里的promise显然不是我们死记单词的承诺，表示：好的或者成功的迹象（希望、潜力，前途）——a sign that sb/sth will be successful

作为名词和problems 对应，相当于advantage and disadvantage

英语当中表示好处和坏处，优点和缺点，利弊有很多：

提到优势你可能会想到

pros advantage benefit

对我有什么好处呢？

how could that profit me ?

也可以说

strengths and frailties

frailties表示弱点，例如人性的弱点：the frailties of human nature

经济学人写人口问题的文章就有这么一句

During the journey, countries acquire and then shed particular strengths and frailties, owing to the changing size and shape of the population.

在这一过程中，由于人口规模和结构的变化，各国会先获得、继而又再失去一些优势和弱点。

熟悉外刊的同学可能会想到另外一个单词：edge

例如经济学人当中就有很多这样的句子：

例如：

我们也可以说：

例如：

当然还有：superiority

例如：

Even in developing countries, where conglomerates have long maintained their superiority, the tide may be turning., the tide may be turning.

再比如promise还可以做动词，表示：有望，很有可能，预示着

例如：

带来好处，你还可以用：boon

例如：

还可以简单一点：some good come of XXX 或者 do some good

例如：

Some good at least came of the Sheyang bank panic.

射阳银行的挤兑事件至少带来了一些好处。

But it could actually do some good.

但有可能带来切实的好处。

那么回到开头这句话

are rippling beyond its borders 影响超越国界

ripple 表示：波浪般起伏，扩散；涌起，泛起涟漪

所以这里表达的是：中国金融将影响世界
