迪拜热不热英语（老外说inthe）
我们知道，dog是狗，house是房子，
doghouse就是“狗窝、犬舍”的意思。
但是，老外说“in the doghouse”，
可不是说“在狗窝里”，别搞错了！
in the doghouse
in the doghouse字面是：在狗窝里，
但在英语口语中经常用来表示：
（因做错事而被）冷落、失宠。
【例句】
He got in the doghouse with his wife by coming home drunk.
他由于酒醉回家，受到妻子冷落。
I'm in the doghouse with my girlfriend for forgetting her birthday yesterday.
因为昨天忘了女朋友的生日，我被她冷落了。
cathouse
doghouse是狗窝犬舍，那cathouse呢？
其实，cathouse虽有猫窝的意思，
但在口语中，更多的是用来表示：妓院。
【例句】
It is not a hotel, but a cathouse.
那不是旅馆，而是妓院
on the house
on the house字面是：在房子上，
实际表示：店家负担费用，免费。
on the house的这种用法，源自美国。
以前，在美国酒馆消费有个惯例︰
顾客每喝三杯，酒馆就奉送一杯，
这一杯就是on the house(算在酒馆账上)。
【例句】
The bottled water is on the house.
瓶装水是免费的。
“免费”可以直接说free of charge。
不过，下面这种说法也很地道：
with compliments
表示：免费，赠品
经常用于酒店提供的免费水等。
compliments，英 ['kɒmplɪmənts] ， 美 ['kɒmplɪmənts]
作名词，表示：贺词、问候。
with compliments的完整表达是：
with the compliments of
相当于as a gift from（作为一份来自…的礼物），
既然是礼物，自然就是免费的啦。
【例句】
Please accept the dinner with compliments.
晚餐是我们敬赠的（免费）。
house special
house是房子，special是“特别的，特殊的”，
但house spacial却和房子没关系，
它的真正含义是“招牌菜，拿手菜”。
【例句】
Our house special is cheesecake.
我们店里最有名的是奶酪蛋糕。
