陨石坠落到天空（今天凌晨陨石坠落）

北京时间2019年10月11日约00时16分左右，一颗陨石坠落在东北吉林省松原市附近。很多人目击陨石坠落的画面，接近地面时，陨石解体，发出耀眼的光芒，宛如白昼！

陨石怎么来到地球

中国是最早发现陨石的国家之一，早在石器时代，古人就发现了陨石，称之为“陨星”或“流星石”。

通常陨石被认为是行星的碎块，在太空运行时碰撞、破裂形成，它们被地球的引力捕获，以极快的速度进入大气层。大多数与大气摩擦，生热，发光，最后气化，仍有部分比较大的石块残留下来，成为陨石。

Imagine you are munching on a cookie while having a picnic. You might drop some crumbs on the ground.

Comets and asteroids also drop crumbs. These small bits of space rock are called meteoroids. Sometimes Earth passes through the orbits Of these meteoroids. Some even hit Earth.

Protecting Earth 保护地球

You wear a helmet when you ride a bike. Your helmet protects you if you fall. Earth has protection, too.

Some meteorites are the size of small stones, but others are the size of huge boulders. When a large meteorite hits the ground, it makes a crater. Craters are deep, wide holes in the ground.

Safe on Earth 地球安全

You do not need to worry about space rocks crashing to Earth. Very few ever hit the ground. If a large one did get close, people would know it was coming.
