Museums are often seen as the "encyclopedia" of a city, which reveals its past to visitors. Zhengzhou, as a city boasting a long history and rich culture, is home to various museums. In recent years, a large number of new museums have been built, allowing more people to experience their unique influence.

Zhengzhou is an important birthplace of Chinese civilization and a national historical and cultural city. As one of the eight ancient capitals of China, it is one of the six major sites supported by the Chinese government and is recognized as a member of the League of Historical Cities. At the same time, it serves as a national central city, and the strategic center of Yellow River National Culture Park, the Grand Canal National Culture Park and the Great Wall National Culture Park.

郑州是华夏文明的重要发祥地、国家历史文化名城、国家重点支持的六个大遗址片区之一、中国八大古都之一、世界历史都市联盟成员，也是黄河、大运河、长城三大国家文化公园战略综合叠加的国家中心城市。

Right now, the city has begun to develop a museum system composed of museums at all levels themed with various subjects. The new Zhengzhou Museum with a floor area of 147,000 square meters, the Zhengzhou Shangdu Site Museum with a floor area of 75,000 square meters, and the Archaeological Museum of Zhengzhou Institute of Cultural Heritage and Archaeology have opened to the public one after another. At the same time, the construction of the Yangshao Culture Museum, the Yellow River National Museum, and the Zhengzhou Textile Industry Heritage Museum is being progressed quickly. What's more, a number of thematic industry museums have opened to the public, such as the Museum of Central China Finance, the China Grain Museum, and the Zhengzhou Environmental Education Museum.

目前，全市博物馆体系初步形成，建筑面积14.7万平方米的郑州博物馆新馆，建筑面积7.5万平方米的郑州市商都遗址博物院、郑州市文物考古研究院博物馆相继对外开放，仰韶文化博物馆、黄河国家博物馆、郑州纺织工业遗址博物馆等项目建设正在积极推进。中原金融博物馆、中国粮食博物馆、郑州环保教育博物馆等一批专题性行业博物馆已相继建成开放。

In addition to state-owned museums, folk museums have been sprouting up in recent years. Among them, the Zhengzhou Daxiang Ceramics Museum and Zhengzhou Chengwaicheng Ceramic Art Museum were both recognized as national second-level museums, and the Zhengzhou Shanhai Tridacna Museum was rated as a national third-level museum. The Daeshin Museum Cluster consisting of 5 registered museums has opened to the public.

除了国有博物馆，近年来，众多颇有特色的民间博物馆如雨后春笋般层出不穷。郑州大象陶瓷博物馆、郑州城外城陶瓷艺术博物馆被评为国家二级博物馆，郑州山海砗磲博物馆被评为国家三级博物馆，由5家备案博物馆组成的大信博物馆聚落已经建成开放。

Relevant departments in Zhengzhou are making every effort to accelerate the construction of major historical and cultural landmarks with a focus on the Yellow River, such as the Yellow River National Museum and Dahe Village National Archaeological Site Park.

目前，相关部门正在全力推进黄河国家博物馆、大河村国家考古遗址公园等一批黄河历史文化主地标建设。

The museums of Zhengzhou have recently been quite active in hosting cultural and educational activities as well as special exhibits. In 2021, Zhengzhou's museums offered 195 exhibitions and 578 social and educational events, benefiting nearly 4 million people.

近年来，郑州文博系统文化活动更加鲜活多彩。2021年，全市博物馆共举办展览195个，开展社教活动578场，参观人数近400万人次。
