守望者谁翻译的最好（孤独的收割者TheSolitaryReaper威廉）

此诗是我在2006年译就，2020年2月1日首次在头条发布英译的唐代诗人白居易的《观刈麦》，这两首在内容表达上有相似性，所以把威廉·华兹华斯的The Solitary Reaper 一并发出让读者欣赏。

威廉·华兹华斯简介：

威廉·华兹华斯（William Wordsworth，1770-1850）是19世纪英国消极浪漫主义代表作家之一。与其他两位，柯勒律治（Samuel Taylor Coleridge）和骚塞（Robert Southey）组织过一个文学小集团，被称为“湖畔诗人”(Lake Poets)。其代表作有《雀巢》(The Sparrow’s Nest)，《云雀颂》(To a Skylark)，《蝴蝶颂》(To a Butterfly) 以及本书选的这两首等。由于他对事物本质和清新大自然的描写，在其诗作中主张诗歌语言生活化，回归大自然，因此他又被称为“崇尚自然主义者”（Worshipper of Nature）。

下面所选的第一首《孤独的收割者》写于1805年，以诗赋画，描写一位在农田独自劳动的爱尔兰少女的形象。这首诗作体现了作者在创作中的一种倾向，即用个体来表现普通人性。诗作想象丰富，把平凡的场景托寓于少女哀婉的歌声之中，以小见大，为读者造就了一位平凡而又美丽动人的少女形象。

Behold1 her, single in the field,

Yon2 solitary Highland Lass3!

Reaping and singing by herself;

Stop here, or gently pass!

Alone she cuts and binds the grain,

And sings a melancholy strain4;

O listen! For the vale profound

Is overflowing5 with the sound.

No nightingale did ever chaunt6

More welcome notes to weary bands

Of travelers in some shady haunt,

Among Arabian sands:

A voice so thrilling ne’er7 was heard

In spring-time from the cuckoo-bird,

Breaking the silence of the seas

Among the farthest Hebrides8.

Will no one tell me what she sings?

Perhaps the plaintive numbers flow

For old, unhappy, far-off things,

And battles long ago:

Or is it some more humble lay,

Familiar matter of to-day?

Some natural sorrow, loss or pain,

I saw her singing at her work,
