夏洛的网英文版摘抄第10章（跟着名著夏洛的网Charlotte）

Charlotte’s Web, classic children’s novel by E.B. White, published in 1952, with illustrations by Garth Williams. The widely read tale takes place on a farm and concerns a pig named Wilbur and his devoted friend Charlotte, the spider who manages to save his life by writing about him in her web.

《夏洛的网》在美国儿童文学史上是一再被提到的作品，1952年出版。故事主要讲述了是在阿拉布尔家的谷仓里，小猪威尔伯和蜘蛛夏洛建立了真挚的友谊。威尔伯要被人宰割了,夏洛为救威尔伯，织出了被人类视为奇迹的网上文字。这彻底改变威尔伯的命运,可此时，夏洛的生命也走到尽头。

故事的开始是这样的：

Eight-year-old Fern Arable is devastated when she hears that her father is going to kill the runt of his pig’s new litter. Persuading him that the piglet has a right to life and promising to look after it, she saves the animal and names him Wilbur.

八岁的弗恩阿拉布尔听说父亲要杀掉新出生小猪中最小的那一只，她非常震惊。因此费恩就劝父亲说小猪有活的权利并且要保证照顾小猪。费恩救下小猪并且给它起名叫威尔伯。

今天欣赏的片段就是费恩照顾威尔伯并且形影不离，一起在小河玩耍的情景。

One warm afternoon, Fern and Avery put on bathing suits and went down to the brook for a swim. Wilbur tagged along at Fern's heels. When she waded into the brook, Wilbur waded in with her. He found the water quite cold - too cold for his liking.

一个暖和的下午，费恩和哥哥艾弗里穿上游泳衣，到小河里游泳。威尔伯紧跟着费恩。当费恩淌如小河，威尔伯也和她一起淌水。威尔伯发现水很凉----凉得让他不舒服。

So while the children swam and played and splashed water at each other, Wilbur amused himself in the mud along the edge of the brook, where it was warm and moist and delightfully sticky and oozy. Every day was a happy day, and every night was peaceful.

所以当孩子们游泳和相互泼水时，威尔伯在河边的烂泥里自得其乐，烂泥湿哒哒，黏黏糊糊，舒服极了。每天都是这样，白天快快乐乐，夜晚安安静静。

埃尔文·布鲁克斯·怀特(E.B.White)（1899－1985），美国当代著名散文家、评论家，以散文名世，“其文风冷bai峻清丽，辛辣幽默，自成一格”。生于纽约蒙特弗农，毕业于康奈尔大学。

作为《纽约客》主要撰稿人的怀特一手奠定了影响深远的 “《纽约客》文风”。他还为孩子们写了三本书：《斯图尔特鼠小弟》（又译《精灵鼠小弟》）、《夏洛的网》与《吹小号的天鹅》，同样成为儿童与成人共同喜爱的文学经典。
