幸福的情侣

The Happy Couple

A long time ago, there was a happy prince andprincess in a country.

很久以前，在一个王国里生活着一对幸福的王子和公主。

They took care of and loved each other very much, and their country was happy, too.

他们互相关心和彼此爱慕，他们的臣民也安居乐业。

Therefore they didn't envy anything else.

因此他们不羡慕任何东西。

There was one thing they worried about.

但是有一件事让他们担心。

They wanted to make Sure they could live happily forever like this.

他们想永远这么幸福地生活下去。

One day, one of the subjects found out the couple's worry and told them,

一天，一位大臣发觉了这对夫妇的担心并告诉他们，

"Prince, I heard that there is a magic charm, and it can protect you from any unfortunateevent.

"王子，我听说有一个神奇的魔力，它可以保护你避免任何不幸的降临。

If you always carry the magic charm with you, your fear and worry will disappear."

如果你随身带着你的魔力，你的恐惧和忧虑就会消失。"

"Is it true? Where can I find that charm?" The prince asked him joyfully.

"这是真的吗？我去哪里找那个魔力？"王子高兴地问他。

"There is an old man in the forest, and he knows about everything. You can ask him."

The couple visited the old man, and asked for help with their worries and fears.

The old man nodded his head as if he knew everything and said, "Travel all around the world.

Then, when you meet a very happy couple, ask them to cut a piece of their underwear.

If you keep the piece of the underwear, your fear and worry will go away."

The couple appreciated the old man's kindness and set out on the journey.

The couple wandered around everywhere and heard about a happy knight and his wife of onetown.

They went to visit the knight.

他们便去拜访骑士。

"Are you really happy like the rumor?"

Then the knight answered."Of course, we are, Prince. But our only worry and problem is thatwe didn't have any children."

They had to find an absolutely happy couple, so they continued their journey.

They visited a happy couple who were famous for their happiness in the next town.

And they asked the couple if they were really happy now.

The couple answered. "Yes, we are very happy. But we have too many children.

这对夫妇回答说。是的，我们很幸福。但我们的孩子太多了。

A mother with a large brood never has a peaceful day. We worry too much about ourchildren."

作为这么多孩子的母亲，我从来没有一天清闲日子。我太担心我的孩子们了。"

They could not get a magic charm this time too, and kept going on their trip.

这一次，他们还是没有得到所说的魔力，于是不断地旅行。

It was very hard to find the happiest couple in the world.

要找到世界上最幸福的夫妇并不是那么简单的。

One day, the prince couple met a shepherd and his wife in a big field.

一天，王子夫妇在一个大球场上遇见了一个牧羊人和他的妻子。

The shepherd was playing a flute and driving a herd of sheep, and his wife took their twochildren to him.

牧羊人在吹着长笛，驱赶着一大群羊，他的妻子把他们的孩子带了过来。

As soon as the shepherd saw his family, he ran to them directly.

牧羊人一见到他的家人，就直接跑向他们。

He kissed and embraced each of them by turns.

他轮流亲吻和拥抱每个孩子。

They sat in a circle and had lunch after the wife had prepared it.

妻子准备好午饭后他们便围成一个圈用餐。

The prince couple watched for a while and approached them.

这对王子夫妇看了一会儿后，走近他们。

"Excuse me. You look so happy!" The shepherd smiled and said, "Sure, any king or queen cannever be happier than we are."

"冒昧打扰一下，你看起来很幸福！"牧羊人微笑着说："当然，任何国王或王后都不会比我们更幸福。"

The prince couple thought that they finally found what they were looking for.

王子夫妇想，他们终于找到了他们所寻找的魔力。

"I am sorry, but could you please cut a piece of your underwear for us?"

"不好意思，您愿意把您的内衣剪下一块送给我们吗？"

The prince couple asked them very politely,

王子夫妇很有礼貌地问，

but the shepherd couple felt confused and said, "Of course we would like to help you, but wedon't wear any underwear."

但牧羊人却感到困惑说："当然，我们愿意帮助你，但我们不穿内衣。"

In the end, the couple set out on their journey again with nothing.

最后，这对夫妇一次又一次地不断旅行着。

Finally they came back to their home because they were so tired, and because they couldn'tfind the magic charm too.

他们终于回到了他们的国家，因为他们太累了，当然也是因为他们找不到传说中的神奇的魅力。

As soon as they came back to their country, they visited the old man.

他们一回到国家，立即去拜访了老人。

The prince told their story to the old man and asked him.

王子把经历的告诉了老人，并问他

"Why did you make us suffer from the long trip for a charm which doesn't even exist?"

"你为什么要让我们长途跋涉去寻找并不存在的魔力呢？

The old man smiled and said, "Well, do you really think your trip was a vain effort? Think aboutit carefully.

老人微笑着说："好吧，你真的认为你的旅行什么收获都没有吗？

While you were traveling around, you learned many things about how other people live, didn'tyou?"

仔细想一下。当你四处旅行的时候，你看到其他人是怎么生活的，不是吗？

The prince thought to himself for a while and said, "Ah, now I understand. You mean that truehappiness is up to yourself."

王子想了一会儿，说："啊，现在我明白了。你的意思是幸福由自己决定的，"

The prince's wife smiled and nodded her head.

王子的妻子微笑着点了点头。

The happy couple held their hands and looked in each other's eyes.

那幸福的一对夫妇握着彼此的手凝视着对方。

The old man said as he watched them."The true magic charm that you are searching for is inyour mind.

看到这，老人笑了"你一直寻找的魔力，其实就在你的脑海中。

Keep it carefully from now on. Then, you'll never be unhappy with whatever comes your way."

从现在开始要细心呵护、珍惜。那么，不幸永远不会降临到你身上。"
