本课学习的是间接引语的用法。

本课侧重学习的是当主句动词为过去式时，作为宾语从句的间接引语中的谓语动词的变化。一般情况下，间接引语中的谓语动词要改为相应的过去时态。

（一）一般现在时改为一般过去时

当直接引语中的谓语动词为一般现在时，转为间接引语后，要改为一般过去时，如：

He said to Jane, 'I often get up at seven in the morning.'

He told Jane (that) he often got up at seven in the morning.

当直接引语中的谓语动词采用一般现在时，但表将来时，转为间接引语后，还是要改为一般过去时，如：

He said to Jane, 'I want to visit your school next week.'

He told Jane (that) he wanted to visit her school next week.

（二）现在进行时改为过去进行时

当直接引语中的谓语动词为现在进行时，转为间接引语后，要改为过去进行时，如：

He said to Jane, 'I am working in the garden.'

He told Jane (that) he was working in the garden.

【注意】

如果直接引语中含有表时间的now，一般要改为then，如：

He said to Jane, 'I am working in the garden now.'

He told Jane (that) he was working in the garden then.

（三）一般过去时改为过去完成时

当直接引语中的谓语动词为一般过去时，转为间接引语后，要改为过去完成时，如：

He said to Jane, 'I went to your school yesterday.'

He told Jane (that) he had gone to her school yesterday.

【注意】

如果直接引语中含有表过去的时间，一般要改为“... before”，如：

He said to Jane, 'I went to your school yesterday.'

He told Jane (that) he had gone to her school the day before.

再比如：

He said to Jane, 'I went to your school last week.'

He told Jane (that) he had gone to her school the week before.

（四）现在完成时改为过去完成时

当直接引语中的谓语动词为现在完成时，转为间接引语后，要改为过去完成时，如：

He said to Jane, 'I have been to France five times.'

He told Jane (that) he had been to France five times.

再比如：

He said to Jane, 'I have never read Mark Twain's novels.'

He told Jane (that) he had never read Mark Twain's novels.
